Created the HR Department from scratch. Developed systems that reduced paper by approximately 75%. The HR Manager serves internal and external customers of Common Ground Food Co-op and provides Human Resources support to the General Manager, staff, and owners of the co-op.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Trained in Financial Indicators, Pricing Strategy, and Merchandising. Developed and maintained department budget. Contributed to the annual budgeting process.
  • Participated in the operational interpretation of CGFC’s Ends.
  • Contributed to the annual executive business planning process to determine administrative and operational goals.
  • Created and facilitated bi-weekly and annual 2-day SUPERvisor training. Topics include hiring practices, strategies for performance monitoring/review, and developing obtainable, measurable, and observable goals, etc.
  • Served on the financial team to develop and update CGFC’s Pro Forma for our second-store expansion project. Collaborated with GM in reviewing the Letter or Intent, negotiating lease, and interviewing contractors for CGFC’s expansion project.
  • Developed Personnel Policy Manual and process for updating it with staff input.
  • Developed template for documenting operational procedures within each department.
  • Reviewed organization’s health benefits, gathered staff input, and updated benefits in alignment to that input. Empowered Staff Advocacy Committee to make final decision regarding the company’s ancillary benefits package.
  • Developed staff committee structure that encourages staff involvement and input.

Projects

  • Developed HR Department from scratch, creating systems recognized and shared nationally with other co-ops. The department transitioned from a paper-based structure to one where all files were maintained digitally. Created an online recruitment process that seamlessly moves candidates through the hiring process while drastically reducing paper consumption.
  • Supervised the development of and designed the organization’s Staff Intranet (Taproot) to increase communication and sharing of information.
